helped with the Hunt as well as the Pinnacle Bank employees who
helped and all those who came out and supported the event.
It was a beautiful day and we had a great crowd.

Rotary
Begins Third Year for Reading Program in Jasper City School System
(2004)
The Jasper Rotary Club started its Rotary
Reading Program on September 11, 2001 at West Jasper Elementary
School. Rotarians go to the school and spend about 30 minutes to an
hour
listening to students read each week. The program runs from
September to May. "We have adopted the elementary schools in the Jasper City
School System and will be supporting their reading programs",
said Dr. Philip Westbrook, Rotarian and assistant superintendent for
Jasper City Schools. Rotary International wants the local clubs
to participate in literacy initiatives. This year, the program
was conducted in first grade. Rotarians visited the schools on
Tuesdays and Thursday, for a total of 62 sessions, with 41 Rotarians
participating. All the Rotarians enjoyed the experience and the
teachers and students were very appreciative. |

Red Cross. Burns said as a volunteer, he had several jobs, one of
which was counseling the victims who lived in Battery Park City,
which is the residential area adjacent to the World Trade Center.
